Charred Smiles

I’ve traversed the lodge areas of the Serengeti
I’ve whistled through the hearts of the girls of Kilimanjaro
I’ve flippantly flown through the bays of the wilderness
And I now am sitting in the midst of the bliss in peacefulness
I am sitting in the heart of oblivion surrounded in flowers
Blooms of orange, white and pink paint a perfect poignant picture
Erasing the fearful eyes of those huddled underneath the naked sky
Making me forget how cruel the air is,
still and chilling in my mother’s homeland
I am encapsuled in a bubble free from the screams and shattered dreams
I know not what the other people of the borderline know
I want not the sharing of their heartfelt sizzling
But I know once airborne my bubble will be punctured
Forcing though my nostrils the stagnant bloodshed
Coercing out of my mouth the words of hope for sanity
And pouring out of my eyes, the body parts of fear
I chatted in ambiguity of the amplified ambivalence
Over five course meals, I theorized on what’s to heal
I fried my head and tell the tales by my red-stained cigarette jeans
Of spilled emotion from mountain tops and deeper slopes
I chanted a prayer in the vegetative state under banana parks
Sipping through mouths of those from afar,
licking brains of those far wiser
and watching in admiration those jetted in privately from oceans across
How can I say I do when I never have been on the moon
When I have never touched the soul
and when all these things surreal only dampen my feet
Only clutter my senses.
The loud cries are scarring my inner walls
Singing to me of the whitewash impending on the charred smiles
What awaits I can only imagine
But through adventures, I jingle through my jungle of a life
Shaking new hands, embracing new smiles
Praying with new hearts of peace and love
If we wore make up our mascara would be washed
If we wore jewelry our emotions would be robbed
For I feel we are robbed in our perpetual hopes
And those blood stained homes need more than soap
So here I go, not knowing when I next will come
